Re: Bone China Mugs- fuzzy spots
Thanks to all for your help and advice yesterday - Maria spoke to Henry who will replace the element on the return of the faulty one - thanks all!

Re: Bone China Mugs- fuzzy spots
<t>The element certainly appears to have some hot spots in it - is this classed as a fault? It's brand new (as in arrived from Coralgraph afternoon), so, if so I'll give them a ring tomorrow.<br/>

It doesn't seem to matter what we do with that element, it always has the blur patches. The 10 ...

Re: Bone China Mugs- fuzzy spots
Hi Paul
Have just taken one out of the press done at 170 for 220 and, the result is very poor. There is an awful lot of ink left on the paper, rather than the mug, and the 'heat spot' is still affecting the same area - any thoughts?

Re: Bone China Mugs- fuzzy spots
<t>Thanks for your input so far. So, what is being suggested is either -<br/>
<br/>
to use a silicone wrap around the mug (to try and even out the pressure) to increase the time by ??<br/>
<br/>
or<br/>
<br/>
Reduce the pressure, reduce the heat (from 185 - 175?) and increase the time (from 160 ...

Having had nothing but headaches with the mug oven we have bought a mug press from Coralgraph, and the results have been much better...<br/>

Re: Faded areas within print on mugs - PLEASE HELP (Tearing my hair out!!)
<t>Hi Reg<br/>
<br/>
Thanks for that. I've already been cutting a 'dart' out of the paper to get the images straight on the mug to take into account the taper. HOWEVER...We seem to have found a solution, but don't know why it works! We have found that the mugs are good at 185C for 12 minutes but at ...

Re: Faded areas within print on mugs - PLEASE HELP (Tearing my hair out!!)
Hi Iain. Yes we tried that too, with no result alas. Talking about it with Maria this morning, we thought it might be worth rotating the mug half way through 'cooking' just to see if that has an affect on the finish.

Re: Faded areas within print on mugs - PLEASE HELP (Tearing my hair out!!)
<t>Thanks ArferMo - I think perhaps an over thermometer might be a worthwhile investment. We tried 185c at 12 which was way too long, 185c at 9 which seems right apart from the faded spots and then 175 at 8, which wasn't long enough. What I can't understand is why the faded area is always in the ...

Re: Faded areas within print on mugs - PLEASE HELP (Tearing my hair out!!)
<t>Yep, they have a fan so should distribute the heat evenly. We've moved the mugs around the oven (centre, off centre, handle facing in, handle facing out etc) to try and eliminate the problem but that hasn't worked. The silicone wrap is brand new (came today in the post with the mugs in fact) and ...

We're using silicone wraps - the same as these - http://www.longforte.com/silicone-wraps-for-ovens
