have you ever tried this with a cold jig? Of course it would lengthen the time in the oven - but I am curious to see if it necessarily required a warm jig.

the bezier curve is essential learning for any sort of vector messing around with. I am still trying to learn it!

it could possibly just have to do with bad cases? Or the paper? Has the OP tried several diff papers?

the defects of the cases not fitting have to do with cooling techniques.
